Mr. Smith has nearly twenty-five years of structural design and management experience on a wide range of project types across the United States. His intense focus on coordination with other design professionals and detailing translate into a strong set of documents for the construction team. His main areas of expertise are wood and steel framing with thousands of multi-family, single family, hotels, assisted living facilities, office buildings, retail, and light industrial projects.

As Principal of the VCA Denver office, Mr. Smith provides leadership and vision for the team and has fostered the next generation of engineers to serve the Western US development community. Under his direction, the Denver office has  grown significantly.

Mr. Smith is a licensed Structural Engineer in Nebraska and a licensed Civil Engineer in Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, Kansas, Maryland, and North Carolina. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering Technology from Western Kentucky University and a Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering from Clemson University.
