VCA was recently interviewed by WoodWorks Organization about the the benefits and engineering challenges of wood super-structure construction. They identified VCA as a widely recognized leader in the structural engineering of podium and wrap construction that offers developers and architects efficient and reliable designs.
The case study, “Wood Buildings Aim High – Benefits and Engineering Challenges of Podium Design,” discusses how four to six level wood framed buildings are becoming more common in North America. VCA was paired with David and Church, LLC, from Atlanta, to compare and contrast regional approaches to construction. This case study provides an interesting discussion of the detailed building code provisions that must be navigated in order to develop this class of structure.
This case study features a recent VCA design in the Platinum Triangle area of Anaheim, California.
