Brett Kaufmann has been named the newest partner of VCA Structural. Mr. Kaufmann is a licensed structural engineer with 30 years experience and serves as director of the firm’s commercial design studio.
Mr. Kaufmann has broad structural design experience, including commercial projects, hospitality, retail, education, parking, residential, and mixed-use projects, as well as deep experience in design-build and fast track delivery systems.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering and a Master of Science degree in structural engineering, both from UCLA. Before joining VCA Structural in 2014, he served as Vice President for Thornton Tomasetti, directing mid- and high-rise projects as the structural practice leader for the Irvine office.
Mr. Kaufmann is known in the industry as a hands-on veteran who is very client centric and team-oriented. He has in-depth expertise in complex structural engineering systems and is an expert on the intent and application of structural engineering regulations, including IBC, CBC, ASCE, AISC and ACI codes.
